1. A PRINCESS IS MADE FOR HER ONE TRUE PRINCE
• Our physical bodies are meant for our "Prince"; the one person worthy of our love who will commit to us for a lifetime. We should not reveal too much of our bodies so that what we reveal is our true beauty
2. A PRINCESS' HEART DESERVES TO BE PROTECTED
• We are meant for true emotional bonding with our prince, the man who truly loves us unconditionally and commits to us for life. We need to protect ourselves emotionally from those who use us instead
3. A PRINCESS IS MADE TO LOVE OTHER PEOPLE
• We need to build relationships with our family, with females and males that are healthy and life giving. We need to end relationships that are bad for us
4. A PRINCESS FILLS HER MIND WITH GOOD THINGS
• We can become interesting and engaging, as women; not "sex objects". We have the God given ability to become mature and wise so the prince will be attracted to our minds as well as our beauty
5. A PRINCESS KNOWS HER FATHER, THE KING
• We are precious in God's eyes, regardless of our choices in the past. God has made us for relationships with others and with him, but it is up to us to respond to him

Rotary Club

I was so excited to speak at the Rotary Club meeting today. We had a great luncheon at All-Steak restaurant. Actually, I think I was more excited about sharing our wonderful work at Her Choice Women's center with all the Rotary members. Most of the members had not heard of our organization. So, many of you who were not able to make it, probably want to know what was said, etc... We had lots of questions about what we do, so if you have a question about anything, please leave a comment.

Her Choice is a christian, faith based, and non-profit 501(c3) pregnancy center and certified physiological Lab (clinic) .    Many of you may wonder why the name “Her Choice” was chosen. We like to refer to it as Her Choice “For Life” and hope that anyone who walks through our doors would choose life.   We want these women to know that we are here to be their advocate through their pregnancy. We present all the facts about the options these young women have, in the hope they will choose to parent their baby or place the child in a loving adoptive home.

I talked about all our free services, such as:  pregnancy tests; our limited ultrasound program, which shows the baby and the heartbeat, has caused women who did not want to carry their baby to term, to change their minds; Our parenting program offers the client the opportunity to meet with us monthly to watch films on Baby Care and Parenting and facts about adoption;  The Fathers-To-Be are also offered a “fathers mentoring program” with an experienced father;  The benefits of adoption; the "In God's Care" program for those who have suffered a miscarriage and need closure; Another program similar to “In God’s Care” except this program provides closure to any woman who had an abortion;  We also have a chapel that was donated by several Christian ministries in the Cullman area.

If you are feeling called to help the center by serving on our Board of Directors or in a volunteer capacity, I encourage you to pray about it and contact the center.

We had great response and many questions about our organization. I am very proud of the wonderful volunteers that help make all these programs possible.

Volunteer Meeting

We know that one person can make a difference. By participating in our One Day For Life Walk, you have the power to continue the progress at Her Choice North Alabama Women’s Center. Please be thinking of a committee that you feel called to serve on. By participating as a volunteer you have the power to involve so many more members of our community! Thank you for taking this challenge head on.

Please save the date for Saturday, April 2. We will have our 1st "One Day for Life" Walkathon at Heritage Park in Cullman, Alabama. We need volunteers! If you are interested please e-mail the center at herchoicenal@yahoo.com. We will give you a volunteer packet, this packet will contain a form that will need to be filled out if you are interested in volunteering. Also, we will have opportunities to sign up on committees at out Volunteer meetings.

Being Thankful

I promised I would blog about the center everyday. However, the only thing I can think of today is how thankful I am for my family. I have a very humble heart and by no means have an excess of anything. Sometimes we forget that we are indeed fortunate. First, we were born in the United States and not ________ (insert a different country here). Secondly, most of us have our basic needs met. Maslow's hierarchy of needs is a theory in psychology, proposed by Abraham Maslow in his 1943 paper A Theory of Human Motivation. He addresses 5 basic needs that must be met to achieve self-actualization. The fundamental need for survival is clothing, shelter and a SAFE environment. However, dear friends, there are many people who do not have access to these basic needs. I am hoping we can change this at the center. Maybe through God's love we can instill hope into these poor souls who do not have these necessities, and help them find a place of belonging. I hope through parenting classes we can reach a few of these people. I've heard it said; "Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today.  Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime”

I've attached a prayer below that I hope you will say with me:

Almighty God, our Father,

you who have given us life

and intended us to have it forever,

grant us your blessings.

Enlighten our minds to an awareness

and to a renewed conviction

that all human life is sacred

because it is created

in your image and likeness.

Help us to teach by word

and the example of our lives

that life occupies the first place,

that human life is precious

because it is the gift of God

whose love is infinite.

Give us the strength to defend human life

against every influence

or action that threatens or weakens it,

as well as the strength

to make every life more human

in all its aspects.

Give us the grace...

When the sacredness of life

before birth is attacked,

to stand up and proclaim

that no one ever has the authority

to destroy unborn life.

When a child is described as a burden

or is looked upon only as a means

to satisfy an emotional need,

to stand up

and insist that every child is a unique

and unrepeatable gift of God,

a gift of God

with a right to a loving

and united family.

When the institution of marriage

is abandoned to human selfishness

or reduced to a temporary conditional arrangement

that can easily be terminated,

to stand up and affirm

the indissolubility of the marriage bond.

When the value of the family is threatened

because of social and economic pressure,

to stand up and reaffirm

that the family is necessary

not only for the private good of every person,

but also for the common good of every society,

nation and state.

When freedom is used to dominate the weak,

to squander natural resources and energy,

to deny basic necessities to people,

to stand up and affirm

the demands of justice and social love.

Almighty Father,

give us courage to proclaim the supreme dignity

of all human life and to demand

that society itself give its protection.

We ask this in your name,

through the redemptive act

of your Son and in the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Pray for the Her Choice!

Please pray for the Lord's protection, provision and wisdom for the Her Choice, its staff and volunteers.  Also pray for our clients; that they would be blessed with courage and the Lord's peace as they receive information and make important decisions.

Donate Items for Mother and Baby

 We gladly accept new and gently used items including: clothing for mother and baby, baby furniture, car seats, strollers and other items. Please contact the center to arrange for a drop-off of donation items.

Host a Baby Shower for Her Choice  

 Would your church like to host a baby shower on behalf of the center? It's a wonderful way to stock our shelves with wonderful blessings that can help women to make a choice for Life.

Become a Church/Group Contact Person

If you have a heart for Life and would like to help your church or group get involved in Life Ministries becoming a Church/Group Contact is a wonderful place to start!  Her Choice would contact you about upcoming events, new classes and services for you to make available to your church/group.

It would be wonderful if your family or church could add Her Choice to their monthly giving or missions giving/budget.  Her Choice is a non-profit Christian organization and does not generate any income from its services.  It is only because of our regular local support that we can keep our doors open and the assistance provided available.

New Position

I was brought up in a household where church was respected, but not attended. It was not until I was 14 that I began my journey with Christ, and God began a complete renovation of my life and beliefs. Of course through the years and through many trials my life changed. However, he has always brought me back to his path. More recently, he brought me to the Catholic Church. Easily one of the most important was my perspective about the value and sanctity of human life. Before He rearranged my brain, I held the beliefs that abortion was wrong, but really didn't feel compelled to talk about it. I was a fence warmer. But when I began my walk with Christ, my opinion regarding abortion and life was one of the first to be forever changed. He showed me that not only is my life important and valued enough for Him to die on the cross, but that every life is precious in His sight.

There’s nothing more worthwhile than to help pregnant mothers make a good choice—a choice for life. It is with great humility that I accept the position of Executive Director at Her Choice North Alabama Center for Women. Please pray for me and all those involved with the center.

Our Mission:

Her Choice North Alabama Women's Center seeks to provide competent and caring service to as many women in the north Alabama area as possible who may have unplanned pregnancies.

To help meet the physical and emotional needs of the Client.

Trained pregnancy advocates will provide information and individualized support through one-to-one relationships, referrals and ongoing direct services.

I've created this blog so you can follow the daily "goingons" at the center. I hope this will give a new perspective to those who wish to be more involved in the center.
